2023's 100 fastest-growing private companies, revealed. Data powered by Beauhurst.
BEAUHURST 06 JULY 2023
Earlier this week, the much-awaited Sunday Times Hundred ranking was revealed to the public. As the exclusive data partner behind the project, we can show you how some of the research behind this list was conducted.
At Beauhurst, we track every private company in the UK and identify those businesses that are innovating and growing. The scaleups we track on the platform must meet certain criteria, such as having an annualised average growth rate of at least 10% or 20% in turnover over three accounting years.
Of those companies that made the list, even the 100th company achieved a growth rate of nearly 50%, which qualifies as hyper-growth and surpasses the standard scale-up category. To jump to a full list of these innovative companies, click here.
The methodology
Each company that features on the ranking has to meet the following criteria:
- Are a private company headquartered in the UK
- Three years ago had at least £250k in sales
- Has at least £5.00m in sales turnover in the latest year of trading
- Has a minimum of 5 employees
- Record a profit in its latest year of trading
For companies that met these criteria, a three-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) was calculated using sales turnover. Companies were ranked based on the CAGR.
To collate the entire ranking, The Sunday Times also collected data from Companies House filings and directly from companies themselves.
