Ever wondered what it’s like to be part of the Beauhurst team?
This week, we sat down with Senior Sales Associate, Jim Saggers, to find out more about him and his experiences at Beauhurst.
Hi Jim! What were you up to before joining Beauhurst?
Hello! Well I actually had a bit of a career change *laughs*… I originally studied Mechanical Engineering at Nottingham and had a brief stint as an Engineer in a lawn mower factory. After graduating, I started a Graduate scheme at one of the big banks (RBS) before deciding that I wanted a more people-centric role… which is where Beauhurst came in!
You’ve been with us for a few years now… what has your career progression looked like since you joined?
Since starting as a Junior Associate without any sales experience, I have since built a number of sales skills from how to run perfect demos, manage a busy pipeline of deals and pitch to any type of client.
After 2 years I was promoted to Senior Associate, which has given me the chance to manage 2 other members of our sales team and get more involved in strategic thinking around the future of the team!
What would you say is the best thing about working at Beauhurst?
I’m sure that everyone has been giving the same answer… but I’d say ‘the people’, and with good reason. It’s great to have so many friends in the office and not just colleagues – it certainly stops any of the usual Sunday blues!
Aside from that, working for a disruptive business is always exciting as we evolve. This is really helped by the company’s transparency, sharing strategic thinking and getting everyone’s input on all major company decisions. Everyone is also really keen to celebrate the many successes of the people and company – you can usually tell by the Prosecco in the fridge when a key milestone is approaching!
What advice would you give to a new Sales person starting with us?
If you show you can be trusted to hit your sales numbers with reasonable consistency and autonomy, you’ll get promoted. So ask questions, be proactive and learn from the rest of the team – everyone is always happy to help!
